Fabrications - London Contemporary Dance Theatre -1984

I photographed a rehearsal of London Contemporary Dance Theatre’s ‘Fabrications’ in 1984 at Sadlers Wells. I have recently digitally remastered the negatives.

The first image combines two frozen moments in time, showing the same pose and the slight differences in shape and position in space. High leaps reveal corporeality, precariousness and performativity. The second and third images record movement progression within a duet with strong sculptural shapes.

These images continue my interest in exploring the philosophical considerations of dance, particularly its ephemerality, the bridge these photographs provide to an otherwise irretrievable past, the synchronicity between photographer and dancer and the contrast between digital and analogue imagery.
