I photographed a rehearsal of London Contemporary Dance Theatre’s ‘Agora’ in 1984 at Sadlers Wells.

I was drawn to the sculptural shapes and physicality and precariousness of the leaping groups.

I have recently digitally remastered a number of the negatives that reveal the sculptural and dynamic qualities of the dance.

These images continue my interest in exploring the philosophical considerations of dance, particularly its ephemerality, the bridge these photographs provide to an otherwise irretrievable past, the synchronicity between photographer and dancer and the contrast between digital and analogue imagery.
