Dialogue Between Artists and Dancers
I am part of a small artist collective in Kent. In February 2026 we organised the first of a series of drawing and photography sessions with a local dance group. This was with the intention of building a creative dialogue directly with dancers and to explore the potential to reveal more about dance and movement than is possible through the close study of current or past professional productions.
I used experimental camera techniques to create unreadable backgrounds and emphasise body shapes and movement. Post production editing techniques further strengthened colour and contrast to introduce an unworldly, spectral or surreal look to the images. Some images began to move into the semi abstract. These refinements aim to strengthen the immersive, dreamlike qualities of the images and allow the viewer to closely interrogate and develop personal narratives.
